Hello my dearest constituents. You may have noticed that my blog has been on hiatus for the past couple of weeks. You may have guessed that it was due to stress from activities outside of this writing blog--such as the writing of my short story! Had you guessed that, you would have been wrong. Nay, my devoted readers, the true reason that my posts have not graced the presence of your "Blogspot Dashboard" is none other than the fact that I, as all geniuses must, was on a sabbatical to obtain enlightenment. My Haaj, if you will, was a metaphorical journey through the alleyways of subtle thought, over the highest bridges of symbolism, and through the densest woods of extraordinary insight. Wholly engaged in this, I searched for meaning, purpose and above all, inspiration. I was just about to slay the vile Jabberwocky when I was rallied back to Earth by a piercing cry for help that moved me to forsake that holy grail which I could see with mine own eyes, and instead sacrifice all of my ambitions, for a cause I knew not what. Flying out of the land of wisdom, I arrived back in this cold and dreary world and saw to my astonishment that certain, shall we say, idiotic and terrible opinions (including ones that had the foolishness and base immaturity to personally attack me!) had been running amock! I knew right then that I had made the right choice. So, my readers, I am back from my sabbatical, and ready to fight for the sake of literary purity and for the truth.
Yours Truly,
The Genius Author
As follows is my response to The Debate: Part II inspired in equal parts by Austin Reifel, Shakespeare, and one Ms. Daya B. Astor.
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;
I come to bury Symbolism, not to praise it;
The evil that literary features do lives after them,
The good is oft interred within their syntax,
So let it be with Symbolism ... The literate Rakshit
Hath told you Symbolism was "manufactured and fake":
If it were so, it was a most grievous fault,
And grievously hath Symbolism answered it ...
Here, under leave of Rakshit and the rest,
(For Rakshit is a deep and insightful man;
So are they all; all deep and insightful men)
Come I to speak in Symbolism's funeral ...
It was my friend, faithful and just to me:
But Rakshit says it was "manufactured and fake";
And Rakshit is a deep and insightful man….
It hath brought many a wonderment to poor students,
Whose stories did it bring life and meaning:
Did this in Symbolism seem "manufactured and fake"?
When that the students have cried, Symbolism hath wept:
Falseness should be made of sterner stuff:
Yet Rakshit says it was "manufactured and fake";
And Rakshit is a deep and insightful man.
You all did see that in my short story
I multitudinously presented Symbolism a kingly role,
Which it did fulfill with heart: was this "manufactured and false"?
Yet Rakshit says it was "manufactured and fake";
And, sure, he is a deep and insightful man.
I speak not to disprove what Rakshit spoke,
But here I am to speak what I do know.
You all did love it once, not without cause:
What cause withholds you then to love it once again?
O judgement! thou art fled to cliches and overused synonyms,
And men have lost their style…. Bear with me;
My heart is in the coffin there with Symbolism,
And I must pause till it come back to me.

A meaningless poem with no originality, an effort (I use that word very lightly) in which he only changes a few words and loses the overall power of the original
ReplyDeleteYes, I think my video defeats his poem
And now, you have realized your greatest weakness lies in your greatest vice: your comments, or your daily doses of vanity. They have left open areas for me to directly attack all your posts! Ha Matt, you are not properly equipped to fight me!
ReplyDeleteLook, bud. I don't know who you are. But if you're gonna troll on my site, get the heck off! I'm not gonna report this as spam, because I want to set an example.
